I have 2 - 16HP Kohlers K341 I have rebuilt only to have problems with later - replaced with HONDA 18 HP engine and works good - only problem was Honda air cooling sucks grass clippings up and plugged air intake = had to put screen under engine to keep intake clean .
Might look at Harbor Freight engine in size - put one om my small tiller and works good and cost is affordable .

Are you trying to get rid of the Kohlers? What problem do they have?
I haven’t had a lot of problems with Kohlers ….

any high hour kohlers with balance gears wont last long if the balance gears and the balance gear shafts bears and shims are not replaced just doing the bore, crank and piston wont cut it

I just plain remove them balancers gears, if the engine hadn’t removed them it’s self…
I had a k341 and a k241 remove the gears themselves and I had to patch the hole in the block, both run fine now.
