Hey I’m looking to get some assistance in trying to find the nut or nut that go on to hold the spring to the slip def on a 160 or 172 mower. I can’t seem to find the size or anywhere to get one. If you have any assistance I’d greatly appreciate it.

Measure the diameter and thread pitch in tpi and then go to McMaster Carr.  IIRR, you need 2 half nuts and a lock ring. the lock ring can be made out of a thin, keyed flat washer, that is hammered over 3 flats of the first nut, then hammered over 3 flats of the second nut...Wink

Welcome to the forum.
Do you have the spring. Then there’s a special washer and two nuts. I’ll look. We should have all three things if you need
