In a drought here in central IL and the 1/3 acre pond now averages questimate 3 1/2 feet deep - 20 years old.

I am plagued with this floating algae.  Have ODed on dye, copper sulfate an the like of trying various chemicals off amazom and the Pond Guy's recommendaation.  The water remains at about 3/4 coverage with the floating stuff.

Any success out there dealing effectively with this plague.

I am running without an aerator since my last mega buck unit shot craps.  Thanx

Ah heck guys, my neighbor friend tried going the barley straw route without any success.  Don't know all the details, but he spent some money on the "barley man" and felt it was a wash.  Wish I had thought and posted this earlier.  Confused

Have you tried Barley straw? That works around here.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

at the ash ponds at power plant, they use a styrafoam float  shaped like a picture frame, then fish net over the opening... then barly straw spread out several inches thick onto the fish net.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.
