Is a D14 and D17 ditridutor the same. My D17 quit firing all if a sudden and ive got a pertronics distributor in aD14 that the engine is no good. Wondering if i can swap them

Parts book shows to be all the same part # as with the drive gear. I would have said no but the parts book would have proved me wrong. Guess they designed the engine around the distributor dimensions ! Go for it.

One notable thing between the two engines is/was rated speed was 1650 RPM and the high idle speed was 1950-2000 RPM. So, the advance mechanism should have been the same.
