| My math says 4 x 14's takes 56 HP to pull and 4 x 16's takes 64 HP. That also translates into a minimum weight of 5600 lb and 6400 lbs. This has been a formula I have used for years. Your results may vary with different soil types and the lay of the land. |

Wouldn’t it be cheaper, by the time it’s all said and done, to just buy a 4x16 plow? They sure don’t bring much at auctions these days. ------------- I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science. |

If freight is a problem and time is not you might get a shipper to combine a load headed in your direction so everybody pays less. I did that one time. Luke in Wisconsin had a 7 bottom 3000 plow he had painted and put new tires on. It looked brand new. I had fantasized about one of those since i was a boy. I called him and asked if i paid him for it could he keep it until i could get it picked up. He said yes. I called a shipper i knew that worked the midwest a lot and he said let him work out a load and it wont cost that much. I think it was about a fourth of what it would have cost.
