I got this grader for parts. The engine got water into the exhaust in 2 cylinders. The other 2 look good as does the rest of the engine. The engine serial number as best as I can read is 226-3182 There could be a number in front either a 0 or C. And a number at the end which I can't make out. I assume this is a D17 engine. Are sleeve piston kits for it and the W45 the same? I see some say over bore. What is that? I just want the right sleeves for the block I have. Thanks in advance.

There is a W-226 (WD-45) and a G-226 (D-17) and while some parts are the same, there are parts that are NOT the same. I don't know why your s/n is just "226". It is however an early model as they always start at number 1001.  They will accept the same 4 inch bore sleeves and whatever piston fits the sleeves. BUT, the G-226 always has more compression to make more power, so the pistons can be different. I don't know what you have. If they are 4 1/8" bore they are aftermarket and have been replaced. A D-17 block has a reinforcement rib lengthwise front to back on both sides of the block about 4 inches above the pan gasket. The WD-45 block is smooth on both sides 4 inches above the pan gasket.

The sleeves have WS227 82  2358 stamped on the top of them.QUOTE]

So, just to be clear, both of those engines were always a 4 inch bore. ANY 4 1/8" bore parts that have been installed at an overhaul and are after-market parts.

The D17 used larger diameter main brgs and the stiffened block to accommodate more compression and hp. The rod size remained the same so you could fit higher compression D17(factory) pistons in a WD45. It would still live. Back in the day M&W oversize (4 1/8) sleeves and pistons were installed in many WD45 with higher compression.

The moldboard hydraulic cylinders are Husco 2220. Do you know of any place to purchase a seal kit for them? Thanks

I am fortunate that I have a local hydraulic repair shop that could do that for me.
