Since my 6080 is down due to the tie-rod ends, decided to change the oil and fuel filter.
I have ALWAYS had a problem bleeding out the fuel lines after every filter change.
Here is what I did:
Closed fuel valve under tank.
Removed old filter.
Filled new AGCO filter completely with fuel.
Installed filter.
Opened fuel valve.
Opened knurled plastic nut on end of the pump and let a couple quarts of fuel run out.
Broke all lines loose at injectors, and wiggled them loose.
Crank, crank, crank, crank…
No fuel at injectors.

Happens every time. I can usually get it going without burning up the starter. Not this time.
I cannot feel a “click” on the fuel solenoid on top of the pump when I turn the key on - should I?
I will test voltage there today.

Remove old filter. Quickly spin on the new filter. Open/remove the thumbscrew bleeder on top of the filter base until solid fuel comes out. Close thumbscrew bleeder. START THE ENGINE.   ***      Injection pump shut-off must click when you turn on the key. 12 volts must be supplied to it.

Thanks Dr. I think what I was doing wrong was not quickly screwing on the new filter, which allowed the fuel to drain out of the pipe from the filter to the pump.

I did get is started this morning. I get 12V to the shut-off valve, but it doesn’t click. But it is running.

Some of the older pump solenoids don't make much of an audible "click".

Several years ago I changed the fuel filter on my 6080 following the instructions in the operator's manual.  Fired right up!  One of the easiest fuel filter changes I ever did.
