I am replacing the front main oil seal on my D 12. I have removed the radiator, pulley, etc to access the crankshaft. My question is, do I need to remove the timing cover or do I simply pull the seal and replace it? I have read the manuals but I am still unclear. Thanks, Jim

i have done a couple "B" tractors ( similar)... and i remove the cover to make it easier to get the seal out.. Also inspect the shaft to see if it is grooved.. Excess wear can cause a leak and they make a thin sleeve to cover the journal if needed..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
