So I was looking for a new tractor, ran across ad that stated D17 6 cyl gas. I thought maybe they were mistaken, couldn't tell from pictures. So go to check it out only an hour away, sure enough 6cyl gas. From serial # looks to be a 1965 diesel originally. There has been some things done to it that I will correct, but all in all it runs like a sewing machine been bush hogging all week with it with zero problems, anyhow just wondering if anyone knows much about this kinda swap, thanks Jake

Sounds like a diesel that failed and got a gas engine in it's place. Would either be a combine engine or a D19 gasser. All same family and would be a simple swap.

A 1965 model should be the much sought after series 4 D-17 with live hydraulics to the right of the seat and possibly a very nice (and rugged) category #2 factory 3-point hitch.
