I'm talking about most fun to your own definition with old Allis tractors!
Could be a barn find? Unburying it after years of storage? Could be an old tractor starting up from a 30 year nap. Could be taking a salvage tractor to fully functional condition? Could be farming the back 40 acres cutting hay? Could be a tractor parade with your family? What was the best memory to you?? |

I was new to tractors in the early 90s. I bought a c with a b front axle. It came with a sickle bar. I bought it to mow my lot that was over grown with weeds. I started mowing with it and was making rounded turns at the corners. One time when I was at the end of the row, I hit the right brake while turning and it made a perfect 90 degree turn.
It was amazing to see how the bar swept around to make the corner. |

Some memories of sounds you never forget.
B on a buzz saw. The governor kicking in halfway through a good sized log D15 on a feed grinder ( still do this occasionally) D19 gas on a silage blower pushing it up 90ft. E gleaner engine with a 30kw generator attached WD45 going a 1/4 mile with a 4row cultivator and listening to the brake pedal bang on the footrest turning on the end 7000 plowing in the fall darkness. You could see the stadium lights and hear the engine like you were standing next to it. 7040 with the discbine makes a sweet sound with the 2 steady tones. |

Most fun was plowing with a CA in the 1960s and 70s. Second discing with an 8 foot dunham lehr disc with a heavy drag. Third planting corn with a two row. I'm not sure grandpa was happy with my performance, he only let me do it once (I was about 12). I also spread orchard grass seed with a broadcast spreader. It fit the CA, but I don't think it belonged to grandpa, I think he borrowed it. I'm pretty sure I cultivated a garden at least once, but I can't really remember clearly.
