D10 series 3 hydraulic remote

   Have a d10 series 3, and the hydraulic remote valve is very stiff. It won’t detect back to center, but it does try to.  It takes a pretty good effort to move in either direction.  Float position does allow the cylinder to move as well.  Flow seems to be good.  The three point lever acts like it should as far as ease in movement and detent back to hold when the three point reaches the top.  The remote spool is just tough to move in the valve housing.

I’m not sure if the valve section can be repaired or resealed, or if I need to find a replacement?  Are these valve sections interchangeable with 170-190 valves?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

	Are you sure the remote valve LEVER isn't tight on its pivot ?? I just fixed a 180 yesterday for all three levers being stuck on their pivot shaft (been outside for 10+ years). It took a torch heating the levers pivot tube to break each one free and then plenty of penetrating oil and working them back and forth. Those levers should be able to move side to side with ease just a bit. If the rubber dust plug is missing at the rear of the remote valve, spray a ton of penetrating oil in that open hole while operating the lever back and forth, back and forth. Then, clean the hole area with brake kleen and a rag and RTV the hole shut to keep dirt/rain out.

	I got the tractor about three years ago, at that point there was no couplers on the back of the tractor, just steel plugs in the remote lines. I added the couplers and at that point I found out the valve was stiff, so I had tried penetrating oil on everything at that point, with no help. I did try penetrating oil again today, and that still didn’t help. On the D10, the hydraulic lever doesn’t sit on a shaft, it’s just a small bolt through the bent lever rod, so there is nothing binding up there. It really does feel like it’s somehow binding up in the valve itself, the float and lower positions are not as tight as the raise position. But, none of them act like the three point valve, or our 185.

	If you are able to use it as-is, I'm not sure I'd be looking for the needle-in-the-haystack. I do now remember your remote lever design. Make sure the slot on the remote lever that the spool pin fits into is smoooooth and not worn. Also take a look at that slot pin. It cannot be worn either. Those 7000 series tractors had issues like that and you can't believe what a new lever (with the slot) and pin would do for operator effort !!
