Just wondering who all Allis built implements for. I just read an article in Oliver heritage magazine on manure spreaders. The article said that Allis built there last 2 spreaders for them. The Allis 281 and 299 were manufactured for oliver as the 490 and 590 and also sold as MM and Cockshutt models. I knew Allis had done this for oliver and it got me thinking, who else did they build machinery for? The only other one I can think of is the 782 forage harvester was built for Ford as the 680. I have seen a couple of them around. Is this it or are there others?

My boss at the Allis dealer always claimed they made planters for a bit for White early on. I know they made planters for MF. Many thought that Allis bought their equipment from other companies but the truth is Allis made the majority of their own equipment like haying and tillage. Also Allis built some of their own loaders unlike most all other major builders I believe. Not only did they own Simplicity but they also had a separate lawn mower line that was built in house for a while. I think even the mower decks found on tractors such as the 5010 and 5020 and such were built in house. Maybe this all worked against AC in the end with no focus on the big ticket items.

You are right on the planters. I forgot all about that. I have the Massey brochure for them. I also have the Ford chopper brochure. I can scan them if you guys would like. Here is a pic I have of one.

While it's not a "complete" piece of equipment, the Tractor Division made some final drive assembles for Steiger in the early 80's.  It was for a row crop 4WD that Steiger offered briefly.  Probably a pretty rare tractor today.

They also sent Steiger Power Director transmissions too. I don't think they are all that rare but I'm not sure. I've seen a couple without looking.

They built at least one 600 6 row no-til planter for Ford as I wound up with it. Its probably somewhere in Wisconsin. (blue with Ford decals).

I had a seller tell me his Ford square baler was really an Allis...never did get to look at it to compare.

As I've read Allis history, in the early days they bought other brands and sold them as their own, engines to implements. Eventually AC bought those vendors like an implement maker in California as well as Buda engines. No doubt if those vendors made orange versions before AC bought them, they sold blue, gray, green and yellow versions and continued after AC purchased them, not only for their manufacturing capability and products, but their sales.

Allis did not make square bailers for ford. Long built Fords bailers. However Allis did build bale throwers for them. Yet another one I have forgotten about.

They also cast engine blocks for LeRoi.

Sure didn't know about the throwers. you'd of thought that Long would've provided throwers.

Had a 302 for a long time, best baler ever, except the thrower. Horrible piece of garbage. Ended up taking it off and scaping it before we sold the baler. Come to think of it i still have the brackets for the hydraulic swing and they are ford blue.
