My wife is inheriting her family's homeplace with a 1964 2135 Massey Ferguson
with a factory loader on it. I had to order a manifold for it and discovered it is the 4th one ever built. We are considering which equipment to sell or keep and I'd like to find out if this unit has any extra value due to its low serial number . In fairness to the other heirs if it is of significant value we need to know and make adjustments to the divvy. I have searched but not found a Massey Ferguson site as nice as this- does anyone know where I should post especially if we do decide to sell it . It is in good working order , original decent paint, little rust, was used last week to till up a garden. I don't have pictures now, and not a lot of specifics like hours, its 300 miles from my present home. The Massey has no sentimental value to the family. "Daddy's tractor" will stay on site. It is an IH 300, running but needs a lot of tlc, not sure if I will refurbish or restore it. The equipment shed is gonna be a rainbow- 54 D6 dozer, early Case 580 backhoe, my 54 CA, a Deere 2350, the IH 300 and a Super A if it makes the cut. Ive got to refurbish buildings and expand equipment shelter so can't keep everything and it all needs to pay its own way on the farm. Thanks for any suggestions. |

I had seen the Tractor House machines and was pleasantly surprised at the price. Didn't know if the fact that it was 4th tractor in first year of production would bump the value up even more to the right person. And if that makes it special to someone I'd just as soon they have it at whatever price as someone else that would just abuse it. I don't find it a pleasant tractor to operate . I feel awkward and confined by the seat and controls.

Porky, My personal opinion is that there is no added value being the 4th one built. If it were the first one I would say yes or the last one.

Tractor House prices always seem a little inflate to me. They give you a ball park but I would usually subtract about 10%

Yes, but that stands to reason. Those are asking prices, with a huge audience, so you never know what the sale prices are. Most people ask high.

if it's a working/running tractor, keep it and use it! i'd also keep the backhoe if it runs. if yer gonna be repairing buildings...that loader is gonna be real handy!
