I have several that have accumulated over the years. A Binks Model 7, Harbor Freight Siphon Feed, HF Gravity Feed HVLP, HF Gravity Feed Touchup, and a couple others that I don't know the name of. I mostly use the HF HVLP and the HF Touchup. They seem to have less overspray. Have used the HF ones for enamel and base coat/clear coat and they do fine. At my level, I can't see paying $300 for a paint gun. Practice, practice, practice, works for me. FWIW :)

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

The guy who did all the painting at the Chevy dealer I was at said pretty much what Dick says. Walt told me once that he couldn't see any difference in results between an expensive De Vilbiss gun and the cheap Harbor Freight gun. Now when the HF gun needs rebuilt, just toss it and get a new one. At that time Walt had been painting cars for 25 years.

Save your money and get a cheaper one unless your starting a busuness of painting and already have the skill down pat.
A years or so back on the Speed channel they painted a show kit car with a 60 dollar HVLP gun to show it is the painter not the gun that does the fine work.

I am thinking the same thing Anthony - dmaybe retire the antique Binks.
I think the idea of the cup liners that I see harbor freight advertize may be the cats meow.

Hello again folks,
All of my painting career (which has been one tractor :-) I have used a suction style high pressure paint gun.
I am looking to buy a better gun (HVLP) for my 17 project, Since we paint the bottom side of these tractors, which type of gun works the best on the bottom end? A gravity fed, or suction fed, or do you use both, gravity on mid and top, suction on the bottom?
Thanks
Anthony
