Reminds me of this old um er chestnut...Wink

One Christmas Eve, a frenzied young man ran into a pet shop looking for an unusual Christmas gift for his wife. The shop owner suggested a parrot, named Chet, which could sing famous Christmas carols. This seemed like the perfect gift. "How do I get him to sing?" The young man asked, excitedly. "Simply hold a lighted match directly under his feet." was the shop owner's reply.

The shop owner held a lighted match under the parrot's left foot. Chet began to sing: "Jingle Bells! Jingle Bells! ..." The shop owner then held another match under the parrot's right foot. Then Chet's tune changed, and the air was filled with: " Silent Night, Holy Night..."

The young man was so impressed that he paid the shop-keeper and ran home as quickly as he could with Chet under his arm. When the wife saw her gift she was overwhelmed.

"How beautiful!" She exclaimed, "Can he talk?" "No," the young man replied, "But he can sing. Let me show you." So the young man whipped out his lighter and placed it under Chet's left foot, as the shop-keeper had shown him, and Chet crooned: "Jingle Bells! Jingle bells!..." The man then moved the lighter to Chet's right foot, and out came: "Silent Night, Holy night..."

The wife, her face filled with curiosity, then asked, "What if we hold the lighter between his legs?" The man did not know. "Let's try it," he answered, eager to please his wife. So they held the lighter between Chet's legs. Chet twisted his face, cleared his throat, and the little parrot sang out loudly like it was the performance of his life: "Chet's nuts roasting on an open fire...."

Porter's Salve History

Porter's Salve was formulated in 1916 in PiquaOhio, by the George H. Rundle Company. The salve was sold door-to-door by traveling salesmen for many years. There has been no formal advertising for Porter's Salve. Sales have been generated mostly by word of mouth, from satisfied customers telling others of Porter's Salve's soothing, healing properties. The original name was changed from Porter's Pain King Salve to its current name, due to a request from the FDA. The reference to liniment was made because this salve was formulated from the Porter's original product, liquid Porter's Liniment.

Recommended as a "beneficial application for bruises, rough and cracked skin caused by inclement weather, insect bites, sunburn and local irritations," it is advocated for use on both man and beast alike. The salve has a drawing quality, which works particularly well on slivers of metal, wood, or glass, beneath the surface of the skin.

This product, not highly advertised other than by word-of-mouth, has gained attention throughout the United StatesCanada, and many countries abroad. Known for its healing powers, Porter's Liniment Salve, gets new customers by recommendations of satisfied users. The company is headquartered in CovingtonOhio and is a family owned business.

Wanna talk about something that STINGS, try horse strength Gentian Violet.  I happened to find a bottle in an old barn I was cleaning out. Coupla years ago, I was handlin some green poplar boards, 1X12, 16' long or so.  Taking them offa the truck, hadda turn left, and go up 1 step, through a 36" door, to stack them inside the barn that was going to get them.  on the last board, I managed to insert the first knuckle of my right index finger, into the face of a $5 pocket watch, that I usedter have attached to my belt, at my right hip.  As I climbed the step, the face shattered inward, and my knuckle skin became part of that pocket watch, and as I continued into the building, the board rotated enough, to grind the skin offa that knuckle, down to the bone, on the inner corner, of that knuckle.  took off about a pea sized hunka skin, felt like sharpening a pencil with an old style schoolbox sharpener.  Skin stayed with the watch...  Then the bleedin started.  Not squirtin, mind you, but a steady flow that I couldn't stop.  SO I said what the hell, lets try that horse stuff, on the shelf in the office...  Took the top and the swab on a stick, and just touched it to the wound.  Felt like I stuck it in a lectric outlet! Hurt like hell fer about an hour, but sure stopped the blood...Beer

Was just goin to ask if you ever got that sharpie out of that pointer index finger... Good to hear it got out.

Back when I was helpin at the peat plant, I had to crawl up inside the discharge tube and weld all the seams in there... Was using the wire feed welder and that sum-a-bich would shower me with all these little molten metal splatters... and burn right through the clothes.  One of them bigger sums of a biches burnt through the pant leg and went on down inside my shoe, dam that a hot one, and that pellet done seared my hide and stuck to it. Went an grabbed the stick welder, was whole lot smokier and a bunch of sl*g too, but that thing wasn't near as hot with it's splatters. Yea, I remember coming out and patting some fires out too.

Was thinking back to when I done broke my tractor loader frame and I was down under the tractor laying on a cardboard out in the wet snow... hanging onto the spud with wet gloves... and my old pup came over and started licking me in the face... and she had wet paws... and everytime I would get tingled from her tongue. She couldn't understand what was happening and lick me again and I couldn't get her to stop... finally had to throw the spud holder away from me, then everything was fine in her world. LOL

Reminds me of younger days...

I was welding together a coupla meyer snow plows, to make a V plow, for a FE loader, I had, back then. It was about 20ยบ out, snow all aver the place, and I was in a pair of insulated coveralls.  Was leaning agin the blade, welding the ears on, fer the loader, when I felt my left knee was a lil hotter than it should be. took the helmet off, and as I did, saw the cotton insulation, and canvas burst into flame!  rolled in the snow, thought I had it out, but I was still smellin mohican burning, and since I'm tha last mohican, MUST BE ME!.  Dang piece of sl ag had stuck to the ace bandage, on my knee, and heated up them flat springs, on the side of the ace bandage, as well as set it on fire, too. Couple hands fulla snow stuck down the  coveralls , finally put it out, but you shoulda seen that dance!  result was a quarter sized blister, with coil marks from the springs...

Pertinent part of the video is about 4 minutes in...Wink
