Was wondering if all generators that came on D17's 12 volt, or were any of the early ones 6 volt? Trying to find a generator for my D17 series 4 and matching certain things up. Thanks.

Chuckster,
Early gas versions were 6V. (Series I) Headlights mounted on the grill shell. A few of the Delco 12V versions used were the 1100305, 1100345, 1100440, rated @ 20 amps max. @2300 rpm, and the Delco 1100327, & 1100426 rated @ 25 amps @ 2710 rpm respectively... HTH Steve@B&B |

I would respectfully disagree with Steve. All D-17 tractors came with 12 volt as standard equipment. I would guess that is because they increased the compression ratio and a 6 volt would have a hard time turning the motor over. Don Jr.
