Guys when I sold the tire shop, my hands were so thick with calluses i could not close my fingers to my palms. I went to sitting behind a desk and doing credit work for a car dealer. As the calluses started disappearing I found dozens of slivers of steel buried in those calluses. I never knew they were there or felt them. It took a year or better for the calluses to dissapear. Now the only calluses I have are on my butt cheeks from sitting in this new recliner. I enjoyedthe tire shop. If my darn back was in good shape is still be there. Old gal uses a fresh cut tater taped over stuff like this. I can't remember it failing

Hey JC,,,there you are!! hadn't heard from you in a while figured you was still shovelin snow and haulin hay Thas a 2006 PT Cruiser that I bought for a song from a repo lot and it had some damage on drivers rear door but a friend had a good door,, same color so I figured I could put some labor in it and come out pretty good. I had to replace the B pillar as theit had been pushed in enough to keep both doors from aligning well. I'm still gonna come out smellin like arose on this one as I'm just bout done, 'cept for a little Bondo and some paintin.![]() Hey Trucker,,,,I've never been able to wear gloves when doin work,,,just can't do it,,altho,,I do like to wear them brown jersey gloves when huntin,,,,, ![]() Yeah,,,Chask,,That is something I do wear is a good MSA approved Full face shield whenever I'm usin the grinder. As much as a little old sliver hurts in a finger,,,I cannot imagine how much one of them things would feel like in your eye,,,,,,!!!!!

Had to have one removed when I was younger in the body shop trade. They numbed the eye and probed along with a really strong magnet. Yep suck city for a while afterwards. Yes I was wearing my safety glasses with the side shields too, just snuck in at the right angle I guess.

Kinda had the same thing happen to me. I was underneath working on the exhaust and a piece snuck around everything and got into my eye. Boss took me to the ER and they got some pics and told me that a minuscule piece had gotten into the eye, but that the tears I had on the way were enough to completely dissolve it. You can still see the rust in my eye a little. HOW those little pieces get around a shield and past the glasses is beyond me. Don't even want to think about losing an eye.

I need to thank the Lord again never had anything but dust and flying dirt in my eye. And only depending on my eye glasses
most of the time for protection. But carbide burrs on die grinder make the shapest little slivers. They evan work into leather gloves, found itbest have a blower nozzel handy and blow work and bench off often. So I start hunting more eye protection before using a burr, ever time.Have experienced the sl*g in the ear, and jacket or shirt , but never in the boot.![]() My father in law who was just one of them unlucky fellows lite his boot up one day cutting scrape. Had a newer pair of cheap work boots, they were a imitation leather, which he did not know. Big o'l chunk of sl*g landed on the one,
![]() an before he knew anything was wrong his boot was flaming up. ![]() He read the label and got real leather after that. |

",I got one of them pieces of sl*g in my right foot the other day as I tend to want to wear sneakers instead of boots,..." I have found them wire feed splatters rainin down on you are hotter than sin... they is raw molten metal and burn 10 times faster that the splatter off an old arc welder... until a gob of molten metal comes off it, which usually many times bigger than off the wire feed.... got one of them one time, don't know how it got down past the top of the boot since it was laced up pretty well... but the mask went one way and the spud went the other and that boot came off super fast, but was too late... burnt a hole right through the hide on top of the foot, and had to scrape it off. That hole took a long time to heal. |
