d17 crank is supported by 3 nonadjustable precision insert type bearings the endplay or thrust is controlled by the center main bearing. A wd 45 uses bearings that require shimms and the thrust or enplay is controled in the front bearing . The front bearing must be installed with the notch inserted over the pin in the block . pin keeps insert from turning.

And the D17 mains are 3.00" inch diameter and WC-WD-WD45 are 2.500" or less...no way to interchange them.
