Does any know what GM part number power steering pump is the same/ near as ones used on 45's. I have never been inside of one of these and wanted to see what parts will be available. The pump I have may only need a minor adjustment as it favors to the right when hands are off the wheel. I am just evaluating what may be involved. Thank you, Kevin

It has been years since I worked on one but there is a way to adjust to make it track straight. I am sure Don will chime in when he sees this

The "pump" is under the hood and driven by a belt. I don't believe it has anything to do with General Motors., The power steering unit or motor is under the fuel tank and provides the "power" to the steering shaft for easy turning. It has a centering adjustment, which is pretty easy to do. It too has no association with any General Motors product to my knowledge.

You need to adjust the control valve.
Do all work on the unit with the engine stopped, if you over adj it with the engine running the steering wheel can turn in your hands and you CAN"T HOLD IT!!
To adj unit remove the two little covers on the top and bottom of the valve housing the two covers are held on by two alien headed bolts remove them then back-off the 3/8" bolt on top a little at the same time hold the spool steady so it doesn't move then adj the spool valve in or out 1/2 turn reset the 3/8" bolt and check

If you look in the AC service manual (not the IT book) it explains the adjustment in there better than I did.

FYI....not likely to get it perfect. I would adjust it hot.If it behaves then, just don't be suprised if it wants to turn one direction or the other when started cold. You can hold it from turning easily and after it runs a bit,it will behave. If you set it cold,I doubt it will suit you hot.
