.  I pulled the shifting tower off a wd45 and noticed wear I have never seen before.  The little square collars on the clutch shaft and 2nd gear are worn only on one side.  Others I have seen have been worn down on two sides.  It's a new tractor to me, but I have not found it jumping out of gear.  What do you think is happening with that wear?  Thanks.

I knew of a WD-45 years ago that spent the first 3 years of its life sitting still running an irrigation pump in Nebraska.  So, the foot clutch pedal side to side was tight. The seat pivot at the right brake access cover was tight. The seat shock absorber was tight and working. The curved gear shift twist/looseness was tight. None of the typical areas of wear had hardly any wear because of this. It all depends on who drove it and how they used it or abused it.

Thanks DrAllis.  I'm hoping the strange wear pattern will allow the tractor to stay in gear.  I have not driven it very much and it has not, as yet, jumped out of gear.  time will tell.
