Moved my A-C WD this morning. Jockeying it around to get it in the shed it stopped shifting. Gear lever seems to go into desired gear but letting the clutch out tractor does not move. At first I thought maybe the clutch disk was stuck to the flywheel, but then I remembered we drove the tractor across the yard and had shifted several times before it stopped shifting.
I now suspect the shift forks and or lever. I removed the shift lever housing (transmission cover). The forks are attached to the rails, the factory safety wire is still intact. Holding the cover in my lap I did mange to move the lever to one of the detents. Looking into the transmission it appears to be all intact. The sliding collars/gears slide freely. Only thing I can think of is the shift forks are bent.( hired hand(son) can be kinda rough While shifting) While removing the cover the reverse fork kept getting hung up on the transmission case. I'm going to price a rebuild kit and or new forks. But I'm open to any ideas. |

@Schst; Are you sure that your foot clutch and/or hand clutch aren't the problem? Also, I gather that the shift lever can wear where it interacts with the forks. Don't know whether that would cause the symptom's that you have or not. Just my two cents.

I thought the foot clutch was ok since we had driven it right before it stopped shifting.

don't know about a WD but a 45 needs to be in 2nd gear(fork and gear) to install top plate with less frustration.

Does the hand clutch work the same clutch as the foot clutch? Or does it work for the transmission clutch?

I'm assuming it is since we never use it.

The foot clutch is on flywheel which stops every thing from flywheel back. Hand clutch is on input shaft into transmission, which only stops movement of tractor. MACK

The foot clutch has a lock-out, slim chance that lever got flipped over and locked the clutch out.
