Has anyone tried making a WD/WD45 hand clutch with 4 or more discs? Just sitting here bored tonight curious if one could make a stronger clutch for pulling beyond the WD45 3 disc setup? Would probably need spacers where the shims normally go and machining of the collar to allow extra space.

Maybe, but the splines on the transmission input shaft are only so long, there may not be enough for a 4th disc. Anyway, serious Pullers eliminate the hand clutch for zero slippage problems and a loss of 25 to 30 pounds in weight.

Had a 4 plate setup for a while.Had to make shorter links for the over center mechanism and welded a spacer to where the shims go.Think the link difference and spacer thickness was 5/16.Takes 2 shortened springs per hole with short wire inside to help keep aligned.Just remember the plates have the hubs mounted in different ways depending on location so you have to use the correct ones.
