wd hand clutch seal

   I am in the process of replacing the belt pully seal on my wd. i have the frame rail off and new seal ordered. When i reassemble, is any gasket sealer needed around that cork seal or the bely pulley cup?  while i have the side rail off i would like to replace the hand clutch seal. I have never opened up a transmission before and would appreciate an explination  on the best way to get that seal out.
