WD cultivator question

Lets start with I'm not a farmer so I've never mounted a cultivator. I picked up my WD today and I'm installing my $25 cultivators on it. Everything is good except for the drawbar area, is my drawbar thing wrong or am I missing the picture? It says to remove pins that hold drawbar bail from pivoting, but when I do that it falls off the tractor. Any input appreciated.  Thanks

      Yes the drawbar assembly stays off ,and the two arms connect to the drawbar carrige holes.

WD drawbar bails, at least the early ones, didn't have the slots on the end of the bail. They had a hole with a bolt through it. Many of the rear-mounted implements on the pin hitch WD's mounted to the drawbar, and the bail stayed on the tractor, with the lower pins removed, which allowed the drawbar to move up and down with the implement. I would either find a different bail, or fab a piece to close up the slot and bolt it to the bail with a 1/4" bolt in holes drilled through the end of the slot.

Dave, that's what I was thinking, the slots on the end are what's screwing me up. Maybe the bolt trick will work.

This might help you get it on there. I leave the draw bar on the tractor.

Got it all mounted up and it goes up and down so must have done something right. Bought it as a pile of stuff that was supposed to be complete and the only thing missing is the depth stop rod for the rear bar, that's pretty good, probably find one at hutch if I remember to look. Thanks for the ideas.

I ended up taking the pin out of the end of the arm so I could bolt it to the drawbar bracket.

Brings back some old memories.  We had mounted a cultivator on a WD and were going around to field to properly adjust it.  I was riding with my foot on the draw bar bail which went up and down with the rear furrowing bar.  When he lifted the cultivator my foot became wedged and I would have been crushed.  I yelled the farmer put his foot on the clutch.  It stopped.  He left it down and I was freed with an OK foot. 
I have loved the hyd pump behind the clutch ever since.  Saved my foot.
You know, I get goose bumps just thinking about that. 
Somebody up there loves me!!!

If I'm looking at your pic right it looks like you will need to get the angle bracket that mounts on the cly mount too. Don

You're right Don, figure if I find the rod with the stop I can make the angle, I have several tons of angle laying around in all shapes and sizes. I considered making the rod and collar but decided not to since the cultivator will probably never be used.
