So the tractor will start and run fine. After a lap Or so so pulling a plow. It stalls and dies. If I fiddle with the choke, about half pull, I can limp it back to the house. Choking, sputtering, dieseling, if I don't hit the sweet spot with the choke. Let er sit and cool. Then it runs fine again until I pull the plow again. Occasionally with the tractor just sitting and off, fuel will drip from the carb air intake hose area. I just use the fuel shutoff valve when I turn it off. Is this a common problem? Sticking float maybe?

That could be a number of things. Dirt and debris in the tank playing havoc with the needle n' seat, sinking floats, plugged vent (depending on mfr of carb) and the list goes on. I would say, start at the tank and start cleaning the fuel delivery system up. Then rebuild or have the carb rebult. Make sure the fuel system is nice n' clean before installing the rebuilt carb. You'll have the same problems again.. HTH BTW, we offer Carb rebuilding if interested.... Steve@B&B

I had the same problem. I'd clean the tank, rebuild carb, over and over, but wouldn't resolve the issue. I finally replaced carb with one I bought from a fellow on the forum, AND put an automotive fuel filter in line between tank and carb. problem solved!

Also, do a half-inch Stand-Pipe inside the tank to keep the rust from getting into the fuel system.

All of my wd and 45's do the same thing.--tank cleaning and auto filter don't help either. Some say the tanks will need to be coated inside to stop the problem. My 45 dumped me the other day on the road pulling the tri-axle loaded with the big water tank.---Had to walk home and carry a air tank with blow gun and blow rust out of the load jet, then we came on home purrin like a kitten! LOL!! thanks; ac fleet ![]() Edited by ac fleet - 05 Jul 2018 at 1:04pm |
