Who makes the best quality shifter handles? I see a lot out there available and I wanted to get some opinions. This one has been repaired several times, guess it should be replaced.

I would guess that every aftermarket company that sells them is selling the exact same one from the same machine shop. AaronSEIA

I got one from an after market company, it did not have the knob on the end of it to hold the rubber knob on. If I were to buy another it would come from Sandy Lake.

30 or more years ago, a new gearshift from AGCO for a WD/WD45 required a new large plastic knob like later 185's and 200's. The shift lever itself was probably 5/8" diameter all the way from the shift boot to the new plastic knob, not tapered like the original. It was obvious they had a new vendor and they made them for all orange tractors at that time in history.

The one DJS shows in their catalog has a taper at the end and the ball for the rubber knob. AaronSEIA

I have one on my WD like DrAllis descibed. Bought it in the early 1990's from AGCO. I just welded the correct bolt on the end so the old knob would screw on. I ground the weld down so you can't tell and only a watchful eye will see the thicker diameter shifter.

Lonn, If you want to let it go, let me know. Think I’ll call Sandy Lake and see if what they have are shaped the same, I am more concerned of the key ways and machining quality on the lower end. Most after market stuff in the past I have been disappointed with. Thanks for your suggestions! Kevin
