In my opinion anything is better then a open carb. I've had pretty good luck with a straight pipe about 15-20 inchs long.

I can't say for sure, but I'm running a straight pipe about 15-20 inches long too, and my tractor seems to really like that. It likes it a whole lot better than my pvc intake with a 90 degree bend in it,, but that could've just been the fact that it was made out of pvc lol!

I like the looks of yours better then a short straight one!! Your bend is a nice gradual turn don't think it would restrict.
