Uneven cut and bad deck vibration - time for new b

   Hey everyone. I run a small bean farm and use an older riding mower to keep the paths clear between outbuildings, but engines and equipment really aren't my strong suit. Lately, the mower leaves high spots everywhere and vibrates pretty badly whenever I hit thick grass. I crawled underneath and saw the edges of the blades are totally nicked up, pitted, and dull. I was looking around online for lawnmower blades for sale so I can just swap them out, but I wanted to ask how difficult the job actually is. Is it as simple as wedging a block of wood under the deck and unbolting them, or do I need special tools to get the new ones torqued down right? Any beginner advice would be great.

	yes, you can block it with wood, then put a wrench on the bolt and SMACK it with a hammer to loosen......... I assume you dont have an air impact with an air compressor.. those work great !!.... same to reinstall..

	Ricky 38 Would a good blade sharpening help/be a good place to start? I purchased a 1979 716H with a 48 inch deck, a couple of years ago, original blades but very dull. The deck bearings were bad, too much play causing vibrations. I replaced all six bearings spindle bearings - lots of choices online, I sourced from local Simplicity dealer No more vibrations and the sharpened blades work fine Replacing the deck spindle bearings take some time - lots of good YouTube examples Just passing on my experience The Allis Chalmers/Simplicity tractors and mowers were built like a brick XXXXhouse!!! 	vibration could be blades but uneven cut might be deck bearings . To balance blades after sharpening they sell a little cone type tool to set blades on - work good , have a plastic one and metal one I have picked up over years . the 60" mower I have was giving uneven cut - found the bolts to the spindle were lose and belt was pulling spindle off flat to deck - fixed that and then also had to straighten blades on hyd press .
