Lucasmills' (Australian) HD-6 Shipment From US

This sight is overdue for Pictures, so I will attempt to resolve that issue!!! These pictures are of Warren Lucas loading His HD-6 with the assist of My Friends at Roe's Track Service/ A.C.E. Equipment Rental in Ramona, CA. includes Undercarriage parts from My collection. There were "Doubter's" who questions whether We could fit all into a 20 ft Container! (NO Sweat with Warren and Dudley, Dave and Jim!!!!) CHEERS, Mates!!!!

obviously a late one with offset tank; love to know if the 7000 motor was factory or later fitment; same with the W5A winch. But has to be a great combination Plenty of track gear there too; you might need to start pushin a causeway between us warren to wear out all your HD6s ! I can start on the kiwi side am working out west coast of north island now ! Might have to start saving some money for a visit to oz just to see these treasures !

Still looks Factory to Me, Warren. I agree, the only other 7000 engines in HD-6's that I have seen were in the HD-6AG Models, but no Brochures back that up either, so I believe it would likely have been a Dealer "Special Factory" ordered option which AC was noted to do. There were many unique applications used in "Cable-laying" and for "Sugar-Cane Harvesting" in Hawaii in particular. Unfortunately, the years that have passed with much Dealer Info being lost makes much of this more difficult to confirm!   Hope all is going well up in the Northernwestern US area! I've followed your posts with keen interest over recent years and really like the look of your collection of 11's, especially your HD11 series B's. I've wanted to touch base with you for some time as you're not that far from my neck of the woods, we're at Wooragee just out of Beechworth in NE Victoria about 300kms out of Melbourne and from your pic's that you've posted I've guessed you're just NE of Melbourne about 2 hrs drive away. If you get up our way call in for a look.
I guess your talking about Gary from Allis Spares and Repairs for parts in Vic? I've brought parts off him and off Phil Hunt up in Tamworth over the years, they're both pretty good for parts for dry back end HD6B's but for later model "wet back end" HD6E's and EP's which were always fairly scare in Australia parts can be a little hard to come by. To help solve this problem I've brought four HD6EP's in from the states over the last few years plus a HD6E (wet brake) in from NZ. Thought I should stock up now before they all end up in China as scrap!!
Two of the HD6EP's I brought in from the USA are late 1973 models s/n 24867 & 24725 made just before the Fiat merger, both are fitted with AC factory ROPS. You can see pictures of the factory ROPS in the AC parts manuals, plus there are pictures of the same style of ROPS on HD11's & 16's series B's in Norm Swinfords book. They probably make a good ROPS and they don't rattle like many of the crappy home made canopies i've seen but for sun and scrub protection they're fairly useless. I've made decent canopies for three of my HD6's that are very similar to what you've got on your tidy 11 -- they do a much better job of keeping sun, rain and sticks off the back of your head!!

I'm going to add to this one, I just lost an Old Friend this past month. Warner 's Father was a Field Service man for a Monarch and then later Allis Chalmers Dealership back in the Midwest after WW1. He was a Navy Sea Bee Dozer Operator in the Invasions of the Marshall Islands in WW2 and witnessed the Flag raising at Iwo Jima on Mt Surbachi (sp?). After the War He worked for International at their Proving Grounds with the TD-24 Field Tests. He left quite a collection of tractors, (mostly CAT), but like most of Us , loved them all! I will miss the many great and interesting stories!
