Alky vs. Diesel

   Our heavy pro stock currently does not allow alcohol.  It now has a 505 diesel limit.  If allowing alcohol, what sort of cubic inch handicap would you place on them??  450???  Just curious....

	There are a lot of variables to consider I think more than just cubic inches although that is a good place to even things up a bit. For example, the ORVTPA has a LLSS class which allows 370 cubic inch alky burners to run against 470 cubic inch diesels. Comes out fairly even although it seems the alky's are stronger in general. All have one turbo limited to a 3 inch inlet with no intercoolers. Other LLSS organizations allow either 315 cubes with twins, non slotted 3 inch inlet turbo's and intercoolers or 410 cubic inches with the same turbo and intercooler - diesel only. They run just as strong as the 370 alky's or 470 non intercooled diesels - perhaps a little stronger - could be a regional thing. Using that for a template I would say the cubes on the alky's should be about 22% less than the diesels. 505 C.I.less 22% is about 394 Cubic inches for the alky burners in a 3 inch turbo world. If the turbo is larger I would guess more than 22% difference however I don't have any factual info to back that up. If intercoolers are allowed then you have to recalculate using the intercooled cubic inch numbers number given. Good luck.
