so as some know i am almost finished getting my wd ready to pull. we left it stock but thats another story. so uhhh what to i do, or maybe better put how to i pull? i know a few things like 1st gear only, wheels bobbing up and down or floating is best and dont jerk the sled but thats about it, any advice for a complete first timer? p/s if it matter my grandpa and i are planning on doing a practice run with either the sled since he is part owner/ operator or he is going to hook a chain to his oliver 1886 and push the loader down on the chain gradually since its a smaller stock hp tractor. what should i do? googling it got me nowhere so i figured i would ask the experts.

Alot of a good pull is "balance" . You will have to learn the tractor. But if you generaly put 20% of the added weight out front that is a start. Hitch height and length come into play. Also "picking your LINE" the path down the track you take. Watch the other pullers see if they wheille or spin out or power out. Left or right up the middle of the track . tire size presure rim width. But most of all HAVE FUN .

The best advice comes from your notes... TAKE NOTES! Where your weights, track ratings, tire pressure, etc. . I found a video camera is the easyest way, just do a "Walk around" the get someone to record the pull. We all can explain the basics, but experience is the main learning tool. Also pay close attention to your competition, you may see a soft spot or an good pulling grove in the track. I have moved weights around because the track conditions got better or worse or I just miss read the track. The track will change after each pull, and especially after dark. SIMPLE THINGS MAKE YOU GO A LONG WAYS>>>>
