There is only 1 style, but that doesn't mean you were sold the correct ones. Work with your dealer to get the right ones, or get a full refund. What is wrong with what you have?

They are the same but like Mack said maybe got D17 mains in kit or the crank is reground. Every time I've ever bought a kit the dealer always exchanged the standard bearings for undersize bearings to fit the reground crank. No extra charge. Kits always came with standard size bearings.

It's a good idea to measure the crank before you order a kit. Unless you've owned the tractor since way back, you don't know if the crank has been reground. If you look closely at the bearings, there should be a number like .10 or .20 stamped on the bearing shell if the bearings are oversized. It's a good idea to measure the crank anyway. Sometimes they are so out of round that a grinding is needed.

Even though I think I know how to read a micrometer I take the crank to the machine shop and have them measure that way if wrong size comes the fault is there's, also when putting together I plastigauge everything to make double sure.

I don't think he is talking about the undersized bearing.
The early 226 motor, had smaller journals than the later 226 motor, i.e D17.
when the revised 226 motor came out, the thrust bearing was moved to the center journal, and the journals were sized up to 3"
Where is your thrust bearing located. Sounds like you have a d17 engine in a wd45 Edited by Orange Blood - 14 Dec 2011 at 3:13pm |
