Question for Bill Long (and others)

   Several years ago (1989?) I went to a dealer close out auction in Pendelton, Indiana. RING BROS. IMPLEMENT. To make a long story short, I went inside to warm up a bit and in the showroom and on the wall was a huge panoramic picture of rail cars loaded with new Allis Chalmers equipment with a bunch of men standing on the cars smiling for the camera. It was and still is the coolest Allis picture that I have ever seen. The rail cars were full of All-Crops, B,C, and WC tractors.  Everything that you could imagine. The picture was about 1 foot tall and 5 feet long. As I was standing there with my mouth wide open a frendly old gentleman came up to me and politely explained that the picture was not going to sell. He wanted to keep it. It was one of the owners, Mr. Ring. He explained that the shot was taken at a dealer meeting in Milwaukee in 1946. It was one of the first major shipments to leave after the Second World War. "Down here on the third car, thats where Im standing" I explained that my uncle, Bill Power ,was an Allis dealer in Rushville, Indiana at the time. " Oh, sure, I knew your Uncle Bill! Lets see, here he is standing on the second car, right here. We all got these pictures after the meeting if we wanted them. Yeah, I knew your uncle. We used to trade back and forth from time to time"     Kinda brought tears to my eyes.   Anyway, the question is, does anyone have or ever seen one of these huge panoramic pictures?  I would like a copy. It is truly amazing. You have never seen so much good Orange Iron!  Anybody got any leads?

	At a toy show nearby a guy had a folder full of allis pictures...I bought one. It was the dockings infront of the tractor shops where all the D-17 had just rolled off and it had a group of men standing Infront. From what I was told there were 3 pictures taken that day and I have one of them. Wish I would have bought the whole binder...had some neat allis pictures in it.

	I was at that sale also and I know what picture your talking about. On Oct. 10 2010 our local news paper ran thoes pictures and a article about Ring Imp. entitled Ring imp. a solid Pendleton firm. The name of the newspaper is the Herald Bulletin. The article is on page c3.

	Jay, I cannot recall any picture that you describe. Pop did not go to West Allis on visits till later. Remember, in 1946, I was 13 years old. However, if you find such a picture let me know. I will gladly pay for a reproduction if possible. Let me know. Good Luck! Bill Long

	I can't add info. to the above, but during our GOTO North,2007 in Farmington, Maine, a fellow from Methuen, Massachusetts, came up to talk to me. His family had been AC and Case dealer in that area. He had brought a black and white photo of the dealership along with two photos of a flatcar loaded with AC tractors being delivered to them. As I drooled over the photos, he said they were mine to keep. As I was "right out straight" with details to keep the GOTO moving along, I neglected to write down info on the fellow and the name of the dealership. If anyone knows who this fellow might be, or the name of the dealership, please help me out. The photos are in frames in my "office". Bob@allisdowneast
