Off color electrical help needed

   I have a Ford 555D backhoe. I am not getting voltage from the ignition switch to excite the alternator. I do have voltage leaving the switch on the designated wire but it never makes it to the alternator. The same wire supplies voltage to the “accessories”. None of the trouble lights in the panel light when the ignition is turned to the on position. I do have voltage to the panel. I have tested the bulbs with ohm meter and they test good. I checked all fuses with ohm meter and they are good. I was hoping someone on here possibly had the same problem and could help me out. One other bit of info when I put voltage to the alternator to excite it with a jumper wire the battery voltage increases from 12.0V to 13.5V and the tachometer works when the jumper is installed.

	If the indicator bulb has power from the switch and power "going out of it" to excite the alternator, it sounds like a broken wire or bad connection between the bulb and landing point of that wire on the alternator/regulator end as the alternator is the ground for that bulb. 	i think you have proven your point with the jumper wire... A hot wire leaves the ignition switch and some where there are 2-3 wires connected together to feed the HOT to the alternator / lights / accessories..... They either join inside the harness, or on a terminal on the dash, etc...... i would look for that POINT... wire is broke, corroded, or damaged..

	if you cant find the wire or splice, or terminal connectiion.... another option is to remove the power wire from the switch and run TWO new wires from the switch HOT to the dash lights and the alternator signal .... just lay the new wire on the old harness and tape to it.
