I'll try to explain this well, but please ask questions.

I was bush hogging last week, and close to a 3-4 hour work session.

The steering started feeling a little 'funny'. It seemed like it lagged a bit - hard to start turning, and then lots of wheel movement all of a sudden.

I thought maybe the hydraulic fluid was low. That was not the case.

I mowed today same thing. Seems like the steering was a little better by the end.

This is what I learned today. High rpm no issues, but low rpm sluggish, and seems like there is some steering wheel play. Maybe 1/2in then the wheels turn.

It's time for yearly maintenance. Could that be it? Maybe the steering column mating to the steering motor is worn?

Maybe the hydraulic pump is starting to wear out (hopefully not... No other hydraulic issues otherwise)?

Something else?

2wd. I put the outer seals on the steering motor a few years ago, so I am mildly familiar with the pieces.

It was a pita to get it off and put it back on by myself, so trying to see if I can get a little help before taking it apart again.

Thanks!

Try redoing steering ram. The inner seal makes steering act funny

Gotcha! I'll give that a shot. Sorry newbie farmer here. Should I get the seal kit from agco?

Is it possible the steering wheel splines are worn out?

I'm going to see if I can grab the column with a pair of vice grips to see if there is mechanical play in the splines.

Agco has all the pieces but doesn't sell it as a full kit.  IF you get lucky and can find the kit it is 70263222
70260597 -inner seal
70260598 -wiper seal
70923576 - oring
70935138 -oring
70263215 -seal
70935136 - backup ring
caveat is I could have made a typo or missed one.  I was going off an old list.
