Video on Red Barn Machine Works. We started out with 92 HP and had to turn it down to 83 HP at 2300 RPM. Great torque back-up with 73 HP at 1650 RPM.

Congrats DrAllis & thanks for sharing. Great project & video. You’ve created the 100 series AC 433 engine tractor that AC could have built prior to their 6000 series.
I’m going guess that it’ll burn 3-ish? Gallon/hr plowing with 4-14? 4-15? bottoms… accomplishing 2.5-3 plowed acres/hr ??

Nebraska Test for 6080 tractor says 5.0 GPH at 83 PTO HP ( 16.68 HPHPG) output. At 45 HP it drops to 3.47 GPH.   I dyno a lot of newer/modern engines and 20 flywheel HP for a gallon of fuel burned is about as efficient as it can get. Flywheel HP on a 6080 would have been in the 95 to 100 HP range (83 at the PTO) and at 5.0 GPH that 1978-80 engine was very efficient for its day. The 175 gas burned 5.1 GPH making 61 HP, where now with the diesel will burn 5.0 GPH making 83 HP.

the way they should of been ,all Allis, I love the one we put together ,have been running ours at 85 86 hp when we had it in Hutchinson in 2018 , never heard if Doug Stamp ever had his on  dyno

DrAllis, your new 175xt has got me pondering....  Your prior post "moldboard-plow-sizing" theory ~ tractor pto hp= width of plow in inches? So it's 83hp = 83 inches of plow width. That would equate to a 5x16 plow(80 inches)? Has that thought come to mind for this tractor? Could it's drive-train hold up to it?

The transmission would be the weak link. Final drives are the same as the 180/185, so they could handle the chassis weighing 9000 lbs but I'm thinking second gear in the transmission wouldn't like it long term. Probably not the ring and pinion either. It's not all about the HP and torque. It makes a difference what it WEIGHS. But, yes. If the tractor weighed at least 100 lbs per PTO HP it would pull that size plow at a modest depth of less than 6 inches I'd say. Rear tire size would be pretty small at 16.9 x 28's. Optional 18.4 x 28's would be much better.

No. Been too  busy with tractor rides to work on the 175XTD. I remember the tap discussion, but have now forgotten what it was for ?? Exhaust manifold pipe maybe ??

Nice hook. He wanted to pull the big stick back, but it wasn't needed. She just laid in there and kept on pulling. Barely even a wisp of smoke.

DrAllis, looks like your 175 XTD had an awesome pull at 360’! What a beast!! Thinking it’s rear tires must be fluid filled~18.4s?, 2nd gear/high stick?, etc? Does the pull sled run a different weight transfer speed for Exhibition category?

As they say, even a blind sow finds an ear of corn once in a while. It was a wonderful hook. I've pulled dozens of different tractors over the years and you always worry about that first time. Will the weight/balance be right ?? what gear can the engine handle?? etc, etc. I didn't even know for sure what the tractor weighed until I got to the track scales. I had guessed around 5500 lbs with the Gleaner F-2 turbo-diesel engine installed and a half tank of fuel. The tractor and myself weighed 5640 and I'm 200 lbs these days, so I was pretty close. So, being as I was too heavy for a legit 5500, I just courtesy hooked and pulled last. I borrowed a 100 lb weight for the nose just in case and it must not have hurt my distance any. There was the point where I thought I was going to yank back on the "Big Stick" as the engine was down to almost 1800 RPM. All of a sudden there was a dry spot on the track and the engine actually gained RPM's until the very end at 360 foot. I was out on the grass. All the 20 something youngsters standing around at the end drinking beers were all smiling when I finally spun out on black dirt !!  All-in-all it was a very nice hook, especially for a first hook. Got another similar local event a week from Saturday. I may have to try it again !!

The sled was set for the 5500 lb class at 4 MPH. The One-Eighty gasser and the 88 Oliver just before me were 5500 lbs at 12 MPH max speed and the sled was geared up faster for them. The line-up man should have had me hook right after the Ollie 88 that went almost 360 feet at 4 MPH down the right side. So, the sled man changed the sled to 12 mph and then changed it back to 4 mph for me. I was 250 lbs overweight and ran 5+ MPH, but did it with 16.9 x 28 un-cut/no fluid tires beating that Ollie that had 18.4 x 38's that were cut. All in good fun. I just wanted to see what it would do.
