Blower cranks and idles great and revs to about 1/3 throttle and then that's all it's got. Not excessive smoke or noise. RPM stays the same through full throttle. It has a new air filter, new in tank fuel filter, new fuel line. Last used about 2 months ago and this is when the problem started. Used about 2 months before that and it ran great. Also has a new spark plug. I use it to blow dust off of and out of brooders in the chicken house and it's been run a TON between here and the old farm. The blower itself is probably 20 years old I guess. Any thoughts? I don't remember for sure but I believe the gas in that can is ethanol free.

Not sure if it has an exhaust screen, but try that first, see if its clogged up. Also check the fuel filter, in the tank, at the end of the intake line.

Is there a spark arrestor on the muffler? Seen on Stihl's when they plug up will cause what your describing.

I forgot to mention the screen. I did check it and it was clean. And I put a new in tank filter on it today. Also ran it without the gas cap so it shouldn't be a clogged vent. There's two lines at the carb. I'm assuming one is a return? I took it off and no change

assuming it's a 2 stroke , do you have the proper ratio of gas/oil mix ?

Check to see if it has an H and an L adjustment on the carb. H is for adjusting the high rpm speed fuel mix and L is for adjusting low speed. Some or most used to have these adjustments before the EPA got involved.

Throttle cable almost broken, stretched out? Can you get your finger down inside and see if the throttle lever can be moved by hand, has a screw loosened up allowing the cable slip and not pull the throttle all the way open? Good luck with it.

One thing about the video. If you take a grinder, and cut a small slit, across the threads of the drywall screw, it will go through the seal better. Once you are through the seal, use another screw of the same size, but dulled at the end, again with the grinder...

Have you tried adding some Seafoam to your gas? Add it to the fuel tank and let it run for half an hour.
I'm not usually a fan of additives, but I have had very good luck with Seafoam.

I would look in the intake to make sure the throttle butterfly is opening fully.

Checked throttle cable, butterfly, muffler screen again, air filter again, and fuel filter again. I can't find an adjustment screw anywhere on this carburetor. Or a plug where one should be. The gas is the same gas I run in the chain saw and have had no trouble with it what so ever. Jets in the carb seem to be clean. Started thinking maybe the muffler itself is stopped up rather than just the screen so I ran it without the muffler and no change. Also no change with the choke on or off. I'm at a loss

Is there any chance the gas line is being crushed by something when you put it back together? I have a ryobi that did the same thing.

I guess there's a possibility but it was doing the same thing before I took it apart and I didn't see any places on the old one that looked crushed or smashed. I'm sure it's something simple but I swear I just don't know.

The rings or cylinder wall may be worn enough that you are losing compression but that should have come on gradually. If a new carb is not too expensive you might want to give that a try. Or just ask Cora and Evie if they can talk Santa into bringing you a new one for Christmas.

Evie and Cora can talk Santa into ANYTHING. They do it all year long
. This one is WELL used. My in-laws used it for about 20 years and we've used it for a couple since.

Well... Bit the bullet and bought a Stihl 450. Nobody around has any Echo backpack blowers for some reason
. It's a little heavier than the Echo was but we'll see if that's a problem in a little while. Thanks for everybody's help/insight Edited by thendrix - 10 Dec 2021 at 7:36pm |

Agreed that it was time to throw n the towel. ![]() You getting that Stihl reminds me of the neighbor's last back pack Stihl blower purchase. Now that was over head, it even had electrical start which he demonstrated. ![]() |

Put about 2 hours on the Stihl this evening. The heavier blower isn't that noticable but the throttle/hose handle is a little to close to the motor case and it gets uncomfortable to use up in the air. I need to find out if they have an extra piece to move the handle further away then I think it'll be good. Sure moves a lot of air
