how hard is it to change the rear conveyor bearings on a r-5? chain broke i have it dug out and chain realined but i noticed the bearings are out of the drum on the front of the rear feeder conveyor

Probably a two people job. Detention the chain. Break the chain by removing master links. The drum goes out thru the door above the transmission. I've left the chain hanging from the rear drive sprockets and securing it so it cannot roll off the sprockets. Two roll pins have to be driven out of the square blocks and the blocks removing from the end of the shaft. Been too long ago, but I think that shaft has to be pulled out thru the side of the combine to get the drum rolled out. Remove right drive tire. Only remove the inner square block I guess to pull the shaft out of the drum. I've only done one or two of those on N-5/6/7's and a very long time ago. I've never removed the feederhouse on any N or R series for any repairs. Always figured out a way to get it done without doing that.

thank you dr i did remove the feeder house found out the drum bearings were ok im guessing chain links broke and jamed everything up i did find out there is a flat round piece on the end that was all ate out i'll more than likely remove drum new bearings and replace the flat piece a lot of work for 15 acers of corn to finish
