I need to get an F and an F2 that’s 4 miles from home. Has anyone towed a Gleaner behind a pickup?

Shifting the gear transmission into neutral is good enough for that short distance and at a SLOW speed. Your issue is how to steer it and how to make brakes work.

No worries. We pulled an N6 and an N7 backward. Undo the drive lines and hook up hoses to the steering cylinder and you can steer a remote from the tractor. It will help you get out on the road and turn the wheels straight and drive home. We sandwiched the rear axle at the ends with some heavy angle iron. From these, we used 2 - 3" x 3" x 12' long angle irons. This made us a wide "A" frame and sandwiched the drawbar. Pulled the N7 about 30 miles.

When the n6 burnt up local tow guy stuck his axel lift under the steer axel time he got it hooked up we had drive couplers off he said he was surprised it didn’t start hopping till he hit 50 mph so he slowed down to 45

Yes, the big fat flotation type tires will start hopping at 45-50 mph. But, get up to 60+ mph and they will stand up tall, for a smooth ride. So the next time, just tell the tow guy to drive a little faster. |

I know a guy who had 4 Ben Pearson cotton strippers back in the '70s-'80s, and he pulled them backwards behind 3/4-ton pickups at 60 mph when he was doing custom work. Went from Western Oklahoma to the Corpus Christi area, and worked his way back north then.
