Rebuilding a 42 B with front cast wheel hubs. My question is should the inside seal spin with the wheel or be locked on the spindle?

The seal should be fixed in place; if it spins it will leak,,,and may cause other damage.

There are different styles of seals and they can go either way. All need to be tight in the hub.

Thanks, the seals are the felt with a notched inner ring. I'll have to figure out to lock to the spindle.

Sounds like it's like the seals for my D12. You drive the seal onto the spindle before mounting the hub. However, my experience with aftermarket seals of this type is that they will not drive onto the spindle - the ID is too small. If you have an aftermarket seal and it won't fit, get a genuine AC/Agco part instead.
