Looks as if we are going to make the change. We picked up a great old Kinze rf 16r30 planter. Will pull it with the 8050PS 2wd as it has 18.4's. I run the 7080 on the grain cart. Question is if I can set the 20.8x38's in to run down the rows good enough or do I need 18.4x38's or 42's on it?

20.8 will work OK, just the 18.4 tires will give more room for error is all.  Neighbor used to run the 20.8 tires down 28" rows. I run 16.9 tires down 20" rows, that is a little snug, but makes you drive more honestly, and have sprayed 15" beans with a 14.9 tire on a D17 if you want an ultimate challenge.

My 8070 and 8050 both have 20.8 set on thirty inch rows, I think they measure 31 or 32 inches from center of the tractor to the center of the rear tire. I side dress corn with the 8070, both are good for 30 inch rows.

18.4x42 will be far easier to run on 30" rows. I think I only put 2 sets of 20.8X38 tires on in the years I was in the tire business, most everyone stayed with 18.4's or went to the 42" tires.
