USA buys very little oil/gas from Russia. Less than 3% annually. There’s a couple of issues. Remember it’s a world market and US is major exporter and number 1 producer.
Secondly we have plenty of oil coming out of the ground, the problem is refining capacity. Some refineries were shuddered during pandemic and very expensive to start back up. No new refineries are scheduled to be built because they are expensive and market for the future is uncertain.
Also keep in mind oil companies profits are currently at record levels so not much incentives to do anything.

????  There is two million less barrels a day less coming out of the ground, hence we are no longer energy independent.  When you cancel a pipeline angering Canada and announce a war on the energy market, the market responds.

Incentives have nothing to do with it, oil companies cant do anything because their hands are tied as a result of the EO's.

There will probably never be another refinery built in this country because of regulations and red tape, we all know who is responsible.

I heard that 80% of what we export goes 'south of the 49th'....
never understood the 'we have to pay 'world' prices....though maybe that'd be ok if we paid Venezulan prices ? they're part of the World.....

6/29/2022 @ Cenex, Sioux City, IA.
$5.39 / gal Diesel on road.
$5.35 / gal Gas 0% alcohol.
$4.75 / gal Gas 10% alcohol.
I mowed my farms bldg place yesterday, took 5 hrs and 5+ gal of gas. I'll need to cut back on how much gets mowed if prices stay high.

Couple service workers did the math, set up a carpool for business here in town, are getting four to five as joint riders drivers for individual shops restaurants working similar schedules.  Driving single eats up half of each paycheck after taxes not including car maintenance.

Can get Dyed diesel here for $5.18/gal but that does not include delivery.  That fee varies as to How Much you get as the more received the less driving required and the lighter the delivery fee,  My own is $.47/gal delivery currently.  For others with 500+gal or Multiple tanks reduces by Dime, go over 1/2 truckload and drops by $.25

There were various "surcharges" on the delivery, we got 500 gallons.  With all included, it worked out to like $5.10.  Dad told me the final price, I didn't see the breakdown.  At least there were no delays in delivery, that had me a bit concerned!

Our company just made a change, made the announcement today: Temporary $80 per month NET pay raise to offset the increased cost of coming to work.  Never thought I'd see such a thing, but kudos to them.  Some guys are around 50 miles away, numerous ones are in the 20's.
