THe lift pump worked good for plowing this fall. For about the last 3 times I have used it, after starting the tractor and raising the lever, somethimes it takes a whole minute before it goes up.  Once it goes up the first time, it works good.  I can live with that I guess, but today when I lowered the lever the arms would not go down. WIthout an implement hanging I know you have to push the arms down, but i this case, they would not go no matter how hard I tried.  I disingaged the pump--nothing.  I shut the tractor off, started it, engaged the pump and then it worked.

check your linkage mine the set screw on top the deck right by the handle would come loose after awhile .
WD's and 45's B's and c's and a few red ones , ALLIS EXPRESS also

One has to remember that these units are anyware from 60 - 67 years old it is always remarcable to me that they preform so well.  Remember, the CA hydrallic pump works off the PTO.  In this unit it is not always running like it was in the WD and WD-45.  It was not unusual to find stuck plungers due to the fact the PTO was turned off and the plunger was resting in the down position.  
A good cleaning could be in order.  You can remove the pump by just draining the oil in the PTO and work on it.  Be certain to keep the valve train and other parts in diesel fuel so they will not expand.

Thanks, this is good advice.  I have the shop manual but I couldn't find anything that covered it working some of the time.
