Hi guys-Running into a problem with this machine. The power steering works in one direction but not the other. I have had the unit jacked up and the wheels are not binding in either direction.

This is a system where the steering box pitman arm's tie rod is connected to a cylinder/valve. I think there must be something malfunctioning in that valve.   Has anyone had one like this apart and is it pretty simple to figure out what is wrong/what needs to be fixed?

Thanks in advance
Terry

On heavy trucks these style power steering controls were problematic. Get too much play in the ball joint and no control or whipping, get too tight or springs broken and symptoms as you note. Take it apart only to that level you find something broken. If nothing mechanical with connection control joint take it to a hydraulics shop to see what's binding or bound inside.

Well guys I found the problem...one of the tie rod ends was screwed in too far and caused the valve not to work.
