Where is the tach drive supposed to go? This just don't look right. G2800, early 190XT I have not found any pictures or descriptions in any manuals I have, operators, parts, tech, and I have both, IT and AC shop books.. Edited by Michael V (NM) - 15 Sep 2022 at 9:21am |

I think someone has the distributer 180 degrees off. Good luck with that as it may require re-clocking the engine oil pump to get it where it should be.

That's what I guessed, 180 off...
I was hoping to get #1 TDC, pull the wires, twist the distributor counterclockwise about 1/2 turn, an put the wires back in...correct order,of course, and re-time or will the distributor not go full around? Well at least halfway, I think the tach drive will hit the block |

I thought the tach drive rupture was pointed to the rear and on the outside away from the block. Been too many years ago and quite frankly my diesel population was about 96% versus gassers.

I figured it would point to the rear, that way the cable don't have a 90 degree turn. I'm hoping I can at least rotate the distributor about 120 degrees counterclockwise, so the cable don't have that sharp bend...
Not that it makes any difference,,this is a LP... My brother has a G combine with a 2800,,,I may go see if it has a tach drive,an see how it's oriented.....I know they don't have a cable, but if if has the drive,,,give me an idea anyways... |
