I am restoring a 1937 WC that I believe is original in condition
It has a steering wheel that has 3 round spokes . it does need to be restored I see sometimes unstyled WCs that have a flat 3 spoke wheel. can someone tell me if it would be correct to replace the steering wheel that I have with a flat spoke wheel? I like the looks of the flat spoke, but dont want to be incorrect to the way my tractor came from the factory. My father died just recently at 10 days short of 100 years old. he and his father were allis dealers. he really could not speak much or was not very responsive , but when I asked him , on his last days what a WC would cost he easily repeated $737 FOB Milwaukee Paul |

Mine was the same as yours. It was bent and beyond repair. I finally bought a flat spoke and restored it.
I hope you can find a way to keep yours original. |

I have a 37 WC and a U, both have the same, round spoke, steering wheel, both are in bad shape. I have started restoring the one on the U. I am using a dremel to clean the cracks out and remove rust if the metal is showing. Been using an epoxy or JB weld to fill, sand smooth and plan to paint with epoxy paint. Don't have an end result yet but getting there, takes time because you have to do it on the tractor as removing them will do more damage and knowing my temper, would most likely throw the whole thing across the shop. I have actually gotten it sanded and almost ready for paint but no pictures yet. ![]() ![]() |
