The starter on my D-17 IV when engaged immediately one quick knock!, then continued to rotate the fly wheel at good speed and great sound. One morning CLANG! Had it repaired professionally, replaced shaft as it was broke a little bit from the gear. Reinstalled it this morning with identical symptoms. How do I diagnose the problem to avoid another repair.
