Here's there short version. I have lots more footage I'll get posted, eventually. This was supposed to be a 'short' but would up as a regular video. Maybe someday I'll figure this stuff out?https://youtu.be/niVyVRpYhIo?si=RpWKBtcuST3by_K0
It's out of order, should have had the WFE first but you get the idea.

I'm jealous of your soil. Mine is like plowing on the beach.

I grew up on all Clay. Where I'm at now I have a range from clay to road gravel. I have since learned a bit how cover crops change the soil. The clay is like chocolate cake now, working on the gravel. .

Well, after 3 days I think I've got it out of my system for awhile. Of Course, there is the annual plow day at Reedsburg Wi. Might just attend it this year. Have wanted to go several times but always seem to get weathered out.
Hopefully I can get the long version compiled tomorrow. Going to work on the WFE tractor today, really hate to have it down. I'd like to freshen the engine in it too. If I can get the 400 and 450 Farmalls working that would take the pressure off a bit. Problem with using these things is you figure out all their little faults. Pretty sure the NFE is in need of a hydraulic control valve. I have extras and parts to rebuild, (I think). More Youtube content, be watching for, "How not to rebuild your WD45 Hydraulic valve"!

Great video, nice hear an engine that sounds like your not scared to ‘open up the throttle’. I have never been understood the logic ‘lugging’ an engine all day long, if you want control your ground speed, downshift a gear than crank that throttle open, your engine will thank you.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

Thanks Lars. Yeah, I'm not bashful about opening the throttle on those tractors!

. That view on the seat of a WD45 is one of my favorite places to be period. My Dad and Grandpa bought a new 45 in the Spring of 1954. Fortunately, I was the main plow guy and pulled a 2-bottom Massey Harris spinner over hundreds of acres through the years. Simply, life was at its best when I was on that tractor turning over the soil. After dark was my favorite time as it just seemed like the 45 was faster then. The harmony between me and the machine was sublime.

Cool story Farrel. I finally got the long video compiled. It gets a little disjointed toward the end. Mike was trying to get several of his HD series Oliver plows working and they were fighting the good fight! Without further ado.https://youtu.be/JUuM0m-lBhc?si=Xs2ov1pTQ8kXwO77

Love the sound of the WD’s and 45’s in a good pull. Brings back some great memories. Thanks for sharing.

Early auto-steer-just put that wheel in the furrow as long as you're going straight. It'll take care of itself.

. I really enjoyed your plow videos. Now a couple of questions: (1) are those 16.9X28 tires and what is the rim width and (2) what gear are you using with the plow in that nice looking soil? Thanks again for sharing.

Follow up question to Farrell's #2 above... where are all the rocks?
You lucky guy. I almost wish I had soil like that, but then again, I wouldn't be able to afford the land at Iowa prices! That tractor and plow sure are a good combo.

Thanks guys.
Yes, they are 16.9X28's, both tractors. The WFE has 15" rims I built from blanks, NFE has 13". Tires do look better on the wider rims..... All the video, both machines running second gear. Ground speed is about perfect. Third is too fast and quite a load pulling 3-16's! wjohn, there are some rocks but not a lot. I would hate to think what that ground would bring at auction now. I may take the NFE to Hutch this year, it's ugly as sin but runs good. I can handle the weights without another tractor and loader, could pull 3 weight classes......
