Neighbor gave me a non running Minneapolis Moline Jet Star with a loader on it. I converted the loader frame to fit my 170. Guessing it's 1950's 60's vintage. Has down pressure, 60 inch bucket. While sanding the loader frame down I found a brand name on it "Rex Zip Hitch". Their trademark looks like a tilted kings crown above the "R" of the Rex. Looks like the original paint was red. Anybody ever heard of it or know anything about them?

I just purchased one of these. I live near the original manufacturer which is Siefter in Kiel Wi. The distributor was Miller St. Nazianz neither of which exists in its original form.
Yes Red was mostly known for its forage boxes but I remember when they came out. They were pretty revoutionary at the time. Miller was also the distributor for Leyland Tractors so you most often saw them being sold together. In fact they often painted them Leyland blue. They were quickly replaced by Dunham Loerh however and IH had their 22 and 2350 series which most people thought were better loaders. I got this one because its kind of an oddity now and I live just a mile or so away from St. Nazianz and Kiel is not far either. I dont know how good they were. I expect not very as they were not on the market long but I dont need a great loader and its kind of a collectors item especially for local lore. Ill let you know how it works out!

It's fine for what I'm doing with it--lift logs, load/unload equipment on trailers, gravel around the yard. Biggest drawback is the bucket is shallow and the attachment points don't allow it to "roll" up and back enough to get a good scoop in it. The bucket itself has been welded and patched over the years, so this winter I'm going to see if I can alter them and get more rotation out of it and/or build a new bucket. The front wrap around frame was cracked when I took it off the Moline. it would have been right in front of the engine compartment on my 170, so I modified the mounts to make it similar to those on my 417 Allis Chalmers loader.

Does anyone have or have a source for the manuals for these things? Owners, parts, service. Anything would help!
