I have decided that the valve assembly on my AC-185 is leaking out of the front and rear seals on the spool valve that controls the main lift. (I am assuming that there is a nylon seal at the front and rear of the spool). Thanks to this forum I got the parts, AGCO part # 70255229. My question now is, can I pull that spool out without taking the valve assembly off the tractor? Will it make a big mess?

Yes and a little. With the spool in hold - mid position. Pull the back cap - 2 allen head capscrews that hold the aluminum rear cap on and the e clip and pin on the front of the spool - then CAREFULLY remove from the rear. DO NOT mess with the detent spools. IF it is leaking on the center spool oring - take it to someone who has done it before.
